There are 36 female-founded startups in the past 5 years that got at least pre-seed, seed or angel investor funding.
2015 is the year with the highest number of female-founded startup establishments, with 2018 and 2020 were the lowest ones at 3 and 4, respectively.
Lemonilo, a healthy groceries commerce, GoWork, a co-working and office space provider, and Pluang, an online investment platform, got Series B Funding in 2015 and 2016.
22% of these startups got Series A Funding, including Ajaib, a financial technology company and Aruna, a fisheries commerce, that got $92.1 million and $35 million, respectively.
Gender equality in Indonesia was once a big issue, considering that in the past women were not even allowed to pursue an education or work, nevertheless make a business and receive funding. Have we finally achieved our desired freedom?
